Recent Art Journal Pages
I thought I'd share some of my recent art journal pages. I discovered art journaling at the beginning of 2008, and I've been addicted ever since. I love playing around in my journal with colours and layers, and I've also found it so helpful with dealing with issues in my life. I've had Chronic Fatigue Syndrome for six years, and was nearly housebound for two years (I'm back at school this year though, which I'm so grateful for), and I think art journaling stopped me from going crazy! :P It helped so much with working through things.
Anyway, here are some recent pages.

Stencilry
I've been wanting to try stenciling for a while now, so when I saw that Mary Ann Moss (one of my favourite visual journalers) was running a stencilry workshop I had to sign up! I've had so much fun so far playing around with spray paint and stencils.
The first lesson was using found stencils to create a portfolio to hold all our spray paint experiments. I had so much fun just playing around with colour combinations and layers of paint and found stencils.
This is the outside cover of my portfolio. I only have five colours of spray paint at the moment (black, white, silver, light blue and pink) but hopefully I can get some more soon. I used doilies, lace, chipboard letters, and my first handmade stencil that I cut last week on these covers.

First Post!
o this is my first blog post! I've been wanting to start a blog for ages, but never got around to it until now. I hope to use this blog as a place to share my art - photography, art journaling, mixed media, design... I love experimenting with colours and textures and lots and lots of layers.
The blog title comes from the lights I have strung up over the little art corner in my room - I love them and find them really inspirational.
And here's a shot of my horribly messy art desk, and an unfinished journal page.
I also have an inspiration wire above my desk; with photos, papers, magazine pages, postcards, and other things that inspire me.
So that's where I make my art!
I think that's it for now - this is exciting!
